W&N 2025 North American Residency Winner

15/04/2025

W&N is thrilled to announce that Marilyn Rose has been selected as the recipient of the Spring 2025 Winsor & Newton Watercolour Residency at Manufacturers Village in East Orange, New Jersey. This prestigious residency celebrates contemporary watercolour artists pushing the boundaries of artistic expression, and Marilyn’s dedication to the medium, innovative approach, and impressive body of work make her an outstanding choice for this opportunity.

About Marilyn Rose

Marilyn Rose is an accomplished watercolour artist whose work explores the dynamic interplay between light, shadow, pigment, and paper. Her paintings, which blend traditional techniques with modern abstraction, have earned her numerous accolades, including awards from the New Jersey Watercolour Society, Plein Air Easton, and the Catharine Lorillard Wolfe Art Club. A passionate educator, Marilyn has shared her expertise as an instructor at The Art School at Old Church, Seton Hall University, and SUNY Orange, as well as through workshops across the country.

“My paintings are about edges—the places where things meet: paint and paper, light and shadow, reality and abstraction. This residency offers an exciting opportunity to further explore those intersections while immersed in a community of fellow creatives,” said Marilyn Rose.

The Residency Experience

As the 2025 Winsor & Newton Resident Artist, Marilyn will receive:

  • A private, fully equipped studio space at Manufacturers Village from April 15 – June 10, 2025
  • A curated selection of Winsor & Newton professional watercolour products valued at up to $1,500
  • Professional development coaching and technical support to refine her craft
  • The opportunity to engage with a diverse artistic community of over 70 makers at Manufacturers Village

The residency will provide Marilyn with the time, resources, and inspiration to continue developing her expressive, boundary-pushing approach to watercolour painting.
