MARTIN BERGQUIST
MARTIN BERGQUIST describes himself as a visual problem solver, and that is exactly what he does in his role as a concept illustrator and storyboard artist. From Hollywood feature films to cult video games, television and advertising, Martin creates storyboards and concept illustrations that inform designers and directors.
For Martin, his tools of the trade, before he does anything on a computer, are a range of markers pens, pencils and pens, which he uses on a daily basis alongside his clients to visually illustrate ideas.
CONCEPT ILLUSTRATOR + STORYBOARD ARTIST
Martin has over ten years of experience working across film and video game not only as a concept illustrator and storybaord artist but also as an Art Director.
For five years Martin was Art Director at Avalanche Studios before choosing to work freelance on a variety of projects. Most recently, Martin worked on Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom in the VFX team at Important Looking Pirates in Stockholm.
FAVOURITE TOOLS
The fastest way to communicate, according to Martin, is with pen and paper; with these extremely simple tools he can illustrate any idea, be it his own or that of his clients.
Martin has the unique ability of being able to translate even the simpliest of ideas into a full image, but despite that he still sometimes struggles to find the best way to illustrate an idea. When this happens Martin will often switch materials. For him, the change of tools helps him think of new ideas.
But for any project, be it film or video game, Martin can always get started by creating sketches with ProMarker pens and a fineliner.
