A DAY IN THE LIFE OF
OUR HEAD OFFICE BY CORRIE BALDAUF
Corrie Baldauf’s art is about conversation. For her residency at Griffin Gallery in 2016, she brought her ‘portable drawing project from Detroit to London.’ During the three month residency ‘city, pigment and conversation inspired a new body of circle drawings and paintings.’ Baldauf recorded marks she was able to make based on the length and wingspan of her arms alongside colours which are used to code and symbolize contrasts found between the privacy of the studio and the stimuli of London – especially public transport and the attire of London communters.
The Griffin Gallery residency studios are on the 4th floor of our Head Office, which is a dynamic and lively building. This project was bourne from Baldauf’s desire to interact with the people she met and overheard in their movements around the office, often with travel bags and coming to Head Office from all over the world. The project is a snapshot of a day in the life of our Head Office, but Corrie’s photographs will potentially be shown in Baldauf’s future exhibitions.
